The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo says it will resolve the feud between Lucky Aiyedatiwa, deputy governor of the state, and the house of assembly.

Alex Kalejaye, APC publicity secretary in Ondo, spoke in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday, about the political situation in the state.

Aiyedatiwa is facing an imminent impeachment by the house of assembly over allegations of gross misconduct.

Despite legal suits and intervention by party stakeholders, a section of the state assembly has insisted on impeaching the deputy governor.

The impeachment process is coming amid the absence of Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, from the state on health grounds.

The governor returned to Nigeria in the first week of September after a three-month medical leave in Germany but has remained in Ibadan, Oyo state’s capital.

The absence of Akeredolu from Ondo has become a source of concern to many stakeholders within and outside the state.

Speaking on the development, Kalejaye described the political situation in the state as intra-party differences.

He said the development has caught the attention of state and national leadership of the party.

The Ondo APC spokesperson asked party members and stakeholders to be mindful of their utterances amid the situation.

“The situation will soon be resolved to avoid political tension, and engender a friendly atmosphere, ahead of the 2024 governorship election,’’ he said.

“Violent protests and agitations should be avoided as such behaviours could only lead to personal injuries.

“The Ondo APC applauds security agents for all the efforts and sacrifices to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.”
