The Ondo house of assembly has served an impeachment notice on Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the state deputy governor, over an allegation of gross misconduct.
The house served Aiyedatiwa the notice on Wednesday after an emergency plenary session in Akure, the state capital.
The deputy governor was also accused of abuse of office.
Wole Ogunmolasuyi, the majority leader of the house, quoted section 188 of the constitution to justify the need to write Aiyedatiwa over the allegations.

The motion was seconded by Tope Agbulu, a lawmaker representing Akoko south-west II.
Thereafter, Olamide Oladiji, the speaker, directed Benjamin Jaiyeola, clerk of the house, to write the deputy governor, informing him of the allegations levelled against him.
Aiyedatiwa was in charge of the state’s affairs when Akeredolu went on a three-month medical leave in Germany.

Four days after his return to Nigeria, Akeredolu sacked the media aides attached to the deputy governor’s office.
The development came amid an alleged rift between Aiyedatiwa and Akeredolu but the deputy governor debunked the rumour, saying he remains loyal to his principal.
Last Friday, the deputy governor disowned a viral letter of resignation purportedly signed by him.
