The Ondo state house of assembly has removed Iroju Ogundeji, the deputy speaker.

Ogundeji, lawmaker representing Odigbo constituency 1, was removed at plenary on Tuesday.

The motion for his impeachment was moved by Fatai Olotu, lawmaker representing Akoko north east constituency.

Olotu informed the house that 18 members had passed a vote of no confidence on the deputy speaker.

According to Olotu, the motion for impeachment was moved because Ogundeji “is always at loggerheads” with Bamidele Oleyelogun, speaker of the house.

Iroju stormed out of the assembly complex thereafter and refused to speak with journalists.

Meanwhile, Bimbo Fajolu, a member of the house representing Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo constituency has been elected as the new deputy speaker.
