President Muhammadu Buhari is currently having a private meeting with Olusegun Mimiko, Ondo state governor, at the presidential villa.
Mimiko arrived at the villa around 11 am, and he went straight into the president’s office.
His visit is coming less than 24 hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) picked Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ondo governorship election.
Ibrahim belongs to a faction of the PDP led by Ali Modu Sheriff while Eyitayo Jegede, who is also laying claim to the PDP ticket in the state, is a member of a faction led by Ahmed Makarfi.

On Thursday, INEC published the name of Ibrahim among a list of other candidates, who will participate in the November 26 governorship election.
This has thrown the state into chaos, and Mimiko’s emergency visit to the presidency may be an attempt to pour oil on troubled water.
