Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, has confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the state.
In a series of tweets, the governor said the case was confirmed on Friday evening.
“We have just received confirmation of our first positive #COVIDー19 case in Ondo State this evening,” the governor said.
“The infected person is currently under isolation and will be monitored. We have activated all necessary protocol to locate all contacts and will be working closely with @NCDCgov.

“The infected is in very stable condition and we ask for calm from all in Ondo State. We are on top of this and ask that our citizens continue to follow all preventive measures to ensure they remain safe.”
The governor had ordered that the state borders be closed on Thursday to prevent the spread of the disease into the state.
He also declared a three day fasting and prayer for the state.

On Friday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had announced that Nigeria has recorded 190 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 20 patients discharged and two deaths.
