The Katsina police command says its operatives rescued 14 kidnap victims at Dan’arau village along Magama Jibia road.
In a statement on Monday, Abubakar Sadiq, police spokesperson in the state, said one of the two victims who suffered gunshot wounds lost his life.
Sadiq noted that the kidnappers attacked two commercial vehicles at about 7pm on Sunday, began shooting sporadically, but were intercepted by the operatives.
He urged residents with useful information to report to the nearest police station.

“On November 24th, 2024, at about 1955 hrs, suspected armed bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically, attacked two (2) commercial vehicles at Dan’arau village along Magama Jibia road in Jibia LGA, Katsina State, in an attempt to kidnap the occupants,” the statement reads.
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia led a team of operatives to the scene, engaging the bandits in a fierce gun duel, successfully foiled the kidnapping attempt, and rescued fourteen (14) victims.
“Two rescued victims suffered gunshot injuries and were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention. Unfortunately, one victim succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

“The CP, while commending the officers’ exceptional display of gallantry and dedication to duty, charged them to sustain the tempo.
“He further urged members of the public with useful information on suspected criminal activities to report to the nearest police station promptly.”
