The Lagos state police command has confirmed that one person was killed during the campaign rally (pictured) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Surulere area of Lagos on Wednesday.
Kenneth Nwosu, the public relations officer of the command, told NAN that the victim was feared dead after a clash.
“Yes one person was feared dead during the clash but the police is on the hunt of those involved in the clash,” he said.
Nwosu further said that those involved would be arrested and prosecuted, warning that the force would not tolerate any form of violence before, during and after elections.

“Those involved in violence before, during and after the elections will be arrested and charged according to the law because the police will not tolerate any form of violence,” he said.
He urged the people of the state to remain law abiding and desist from any form of violence as the general election approached.
Nwosu added that the police was fully prepared to protect lives and property in the state.

There has been break down of law and order at different campaign locations across the state.
On Tuesday, thugs vandalised several vehicles and harassed passersby during the campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Obanikoro axis of the ever-busy Ikorodu road.
Earlier on January 27, Funmilayo Tejuosho, three-time lawmaker and former deputy speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly, was humiliated by hodlums at the campaign of APC in Mushin.
