An unidentified driver has been killed at the Mile 2 area of Lagos state during a clash between tanker drivers and officials of the state environmental and special offences unit (task force).
The clash occurred on Tuesday morning around the Mile 2 — Oshodi axis.
It was learned that a fight broke out between the tanker drivers, Lagos task force, and louts.
But the cause of the fracas had not been ascertained at the time of filing this report.

During the fracas, one of the drivers was killed — an incident that worsened the situation.
Some persons barricaded the major road along the axis and burnt tyres to protest the death of the driver.
Owing to the incident, Idowu Owohunwa, the Lagos commissioner of police, and other police officers visited the area to assess the situation.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, said in a tweet that normalcy has been restored to the area.
Hundeyin said investigation has commenced into the death of the driver.
