One of the students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina abducted by gunmen has been rescued.
Ground sources told TheCable on Monday that efforts are still ongoing to secure the release of the remaining three.
The rescued student, identified as Fahad Muhammad, is a 20-year-old 100-level computer science student.
Muhammad regained his freedom on Sunday following intensified search-and-rescue operations in the area.

Local security sources said efforts are being sustained by army operatives to locate and rescue the three others still in captivity.
The remaining students include include Adewale Bolaji Ajayi (23) of the department of computer science, Emmanuel Michael (24) of the department of food management science, and Favour Michael (22) of the department of food management science.
The students, all in their first year, were abducted on Saturday when armed men stormed their residence in Dutsin-Ma.

Security operatives are reportedly tracking the movements of the kidnappers as efforts to secure the safe return of the remaining students continue.
Nigeria has experienced numerous abductions targeting students in recent years, reflecting a troubling trend of insecurity.
In April 2021, gunmen attacked Greenfield University in Kaduna state, abducting at least 20 students and two staff members.
Tragically, three of the kidnapped students were found dead days later.

The remaining 14 students were released after spending over a month in captivity.
In the same month, gunmen kidnapped students from the Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi, Benue state.
In May 2024, at least nine students were kidnapped from their classrooms at Confluence University in Kogi state.
In February 2025, gunmen abducted up to four female students from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University in Makurdi, Benue state.
