Onome Ebi, Super Falcons ace defender, says Nigeria’s match against Ghana in the qualifiers of the CAF Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) is going to be tough.
In a chat with TheCable, Ebi, the FC Minsk of Belarus player, also said it will be the first time the “two best African teams” will square it out during the qualifying phase for a spot in the tournament proper.
She, however, believed that the nine-time African champions will triumph and sail through to the AWCON tournament next year.
The first qualifying rounds will take place during the FIFA window from October 18 to 26, 2021.

“Playing Ghana in the playoff of AWCON is going to be a tough game. Both teams are like the best in Africa,” Ebi told TheCable.
“Like two of the best teams playing against each other to qualify for the Nations Cup, it’s really going to be a tough one.
“So, playing against each other during the qualifying series, I don’t think such has happened before.

“It won’t be easy but hopefully, we’ll qualify for the Nation’s Cup next year.”
Onome Ebi is the first African footballer to have played in five FIFA World Cup tournaments.
The 38-year-old has won the AWCON four times in six appearances for the nation.
