Blessing Onyebuchi and Mercy Genesis, reigning African champions, have departed Nigeria for Doha, Qatar, venue of the inaugural World Beach Games.
Onyebuchi and Genesis are expected to contest in the +70kg and -50kg categories respectively.
The pair, alongside coach Victor Kodei, left the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 12pm on Friday via a Qatar Airways flight.
At the tournament, the two athletes will take part in beach wrestling, which is similar to the traditional Kokuwa wrestling.

The 6-day international multi-sport event is organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC).
The games is scheduled to run from October 11-16, 2019 and will have about 1,240 athletes from over 90 countries in attendance.
The duo, who claimed African Games gold medals in Morocco a few months ago, will be guided by experienced coach Kodei at the tournament.
