Ooni of Ife marries wife from Edo state

Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, on Saturday married Wuraola Obanor, a woman from Edo state, at a ceremony that held in Benin City, capital of the state.

The monarch, who was not present at the occasion, was represented by his father.

In accordance with Benin traditional marriage rites, Wuraola  sat on the lap of Ooni’s father at the count of seven.

She was later presented to the monarch’s family after the payment of the bride price.

The marriage reception held at the Edo Hotel in Benin.

Speaking at the event, Williams Obanor, father of the bride, expressed joy in giving his daughter in marriage to the Ife Royal House.

Key personalities from Ife kingdom attended the event, which was chaired by Femi Pedro, former deputy governor of Lagos state.

Ogunwunsi is the 51st monarch to ascend the prestigious Ile-Ife throne.
