Oparanozie: Malians don’t scare us

Super Falcons forward, Desire Oparanozie, is not feeling queasy facing Mali in their Rio 2016 Olympic Games qualifier on Saturday.

Nigeria beat the same opponent 8-0 in April in an All-Africa Games qualifier with the Guingamp of France forward scoring two goals in the encounter.

Now she’s ready to put the Malians to the sword again.

“The Malians don’t scare us because we know what we can do. We have beaten them before and I’m looking forward to scoring goals against them again,” she said.

“We don’t want to miss out on the Olympic Games and they are standing between us and the ticket so we must beat them to qualify.”

She, however, said her optimism is not borne out of spite but confidence in the Falcons’ abilities.

“We do not disrespect our opponents when we talk about games; we’re just confident,” she said.

“We always show respect to our opponents and we never take them for granted but we are always confident and we are hopeful of a win on Saturday.”

The game is scheduled for Abuja National Stadium.
