Falcons will get it right this time, says Oparanozie

Super Falcons striker, Desire Oparanozie, is not ready for the heartache of not qualifying for the All-Africa Games like she experienced four years ago.

In 2011, Black Queens of Ghana knocked out Nigeria from the AAG hosted by Mozambique.

Naturally, the France-based player was disappointed the team did not qualify for the Games the last time in Maputo, but said she’s ready to make amend and book a ticket for the 2015 edition ahead of Mali.

“You know they say once beaten twice shy. I have always dreamed of playing in the AAG and Olympics and will relish this golden opportunity to be at the All Africa Games,” she told supersport.com.

“We will get it right this time by God’s grace and our qualification is sure.”

The first leg ended 1-1 in Bamako and Oparanozie (pictured with forward Asisat Oshoala), who arrived at the team’s camp on Monday, said her mind is focused on Friday’s game at the Abuja National Stadium.

“There is nothing unusual to expect. I’m still the same Desire, I’m in camp now and I’m here to be on top of my game and to be at my very best at every given time,” she said.

“I won’t say this is what I am going to bring into the team because it is not all about me, we are a team so we have to work together and hopefully the results will come out positive. I am very sure and positive we will crush Mali here.”

The winner of the game will book a place to Congo-Brazzaville for the event.
