Osahon Okunbo to receive ‘emerging leader in philanthropy’ award

Osahon Okunbo, the chairman of Wells Carlton Hotels and Apartments in Abuja, will on Tuesday receive the “emerging leader in philanthropy” award.

Ikechukwu Norbert, convener and organiser of the Humanitarian Service Diamond Awards (HSD), said Osahon, son of the late Idahosa Okunbo, has successfully carried on his father’s business legacy and philanthropic efforts.

Nobert said Osahon was “chosen for this recognition due to his exceptional track record in national development, societal upliftment, and relentless service to humanity”.

He added that Osahon has demonstrated his philanthropic gestures through the activities of the Osa Okunbo Foundation in the areas of poverty eradication, education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and housing.

Other notable awardees are Arthur Eze, a businessman; Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno; Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers; Umo Eno, governor of Akwa Ibom; and Nuhu Kwajafa, an activist.

Others are Jeremiah Fufuye, a prophet; Jack Rich Tein, a politician; Mohammed Marwa, chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA); Allen Onyema, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Air Peace; Monday Okpebholo, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state among other personalities.
