Adams Oshiomhole, former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says Godwin Obaseki, governor of the state, is not a threat to Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the September 19 election.

Obaseki and Ize-Iyamu are the main candidates in the election. While the governor is running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ize-Iyamu is of the APC.

Oshiomhole threw his weight behind Ize-Iyamu after he fell out with Obaseki whom he helped into power in 2016.

Speaking on a Channels Television programme, Oshiomhole expressed confidence that his party will win the election.

“How can he be a threat? A man who is not even eligible to contest elections? How can a snail be a threat in a race where tigers are involved?” he said.

During the weekend, Phillip Shaibu, deputy governor of Edo, described Ize-Iyamu as a stooge, alleging that Oshiomhole wants to use him to get a third term.

”The truth is that Ize-Iyamu is merely a stooge. The real man seeking for the governorship position is Adams Oshiomhole who has perfected the plan to betray democracy by seeking a third term in office. The price that Oshiomhole will pay for projecting Ize-Iyamu is an outright rejection,” he had said.

“We need a new kind of politics and policies that reflect the best value of our people. Politics that focuses on bringing people together to work for the common good.”
