Super Falcons midfielder, Asisat Oshoala, says the female national team has learnt from the failure of 2012 and will prove it by emerging victorious in Namibia.
Despite being the defending champions, the Falcons had their worst outing in Equatorial Guinea, finishing in a disappointing fourth position.
Oshoala, who emerged as the most valuable player at the last FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup in Canada, now feels the team has matured since the last AWC and has learnt their lessons from that debacle.
“We have learnt from the mistakes of the last competition because we made several mistakes and probably took some things for granted, which probably ruined our chances of winning that competition,” she told sl10.ng.

“But I would say we are stronger now because there is a new spirit and it has surely revitalised us and jolted us back to reality and now we know better.”
The Falcons open their campaign Saturday against Ivory Coast and Oshoala said their fellow West Africans won’t be taken for granted.
“We are not taking anything for granted and we are not underrating any team,” she said.

“We have to show them equal respect and also believe in our abilities. I’m sure we’ll be fine.”
