Reigning African women player of the year, Asisat Oshoala, will not be retaining the honour she won in 2014.
The 21-year-old Liverpool forward was conspicuously absent on the final list of top contenders for the Women Footballer of the year released by the CAF on Monday.
Compatriot, Ngozi Ebere, is however, included in the five-player shortlist.
Neither of the female national teams made it to the final cut for the women footballer of the year category.
