From Friday to Monday, our torchlight was on the performances of Nigerian players all over the world.
Below is TheCable’s team of the week:
Adeleye Adebayo [Hapoel Jerusalem]
Pulled off several brilliant saves for Hapoel Jerusalem. Exceptional.

Kenneth Omeruo [Leganes]
In a solid game, the ex-Kasimpasa defender was brilliant. It must have felt like a belt in the bicuspids by a baseball bat for the opposition. Firm.
Semi Ajayi [West Bromwich Albion]

Ajayi stood up to the plate and led the defence with ferocity and assuredness and left the opposition forwards itching like a man in a fuzzy tree. Immovable.
Chidozie Awaziem [Boavista]
Another superb performance from the defender, who also caused a few problems up the field. Always ready to close down space. Awaziem dealt with any danger making numerous clearances and two major interceptions. Practical.
Calvin Bassey [Rangers]

Always a problem down the left, looking to set off attacks which saw him in lots of possession. Inspiring.
Victor Moses [Spartak Moscow]
Moses bossed Rostov out of the game. He then scored to compliment another fine performance. Resourceful.
Ramon Azeez [FC Cartegena]

The Nigerian dynamo was in fine form for Cartegena. Inventive.
John Obi Mikel [Stoke City]

Sweeping over the pitch like a monstrous Mesozoic bird in search of its primeval nest, the midfielder was just too hot to handle. Creative.
Simy Nwankwo [Crotone]

Worried the hosts’ defence and scored two well-deserved goals. Moved well and was an outlet. Alert.
Paul Onuachu [Genk]

Always willing to have a shot on goal, he was a huge problem to the opposition. Onuachu scored the third goal. Threatening.
Victor Osimhen [Napoli]
He continued to be a nuisance pushing and probing like an eager hummingbird against Crotone. Vivacious.
