Osimhen pens five-year deal with Enyeama’s former club, Lille

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has signed a five-year deal with Vincent Enyeama’s former club, Lille of France.

Osimhen moved from Sporting Charleroi of Belgium to Lille in a deal worth €12 million plus €3 million add-ons.

The 20-year old whose contract runs till 2024 will wear the number 7 jersey, according to Lille’s website.

The club official Twitter handle unveiled the signing of Osimhen on Thursday.

Osimhen expressed satisfaction and joy the club with a lineage of past Nigerian players to have played for the French Ligue 1 club side.

“Great Nigerian players have also played here. I would like to join their lineage and follow their footsteps,” Osimhen said.

“The LOSC is a very good club that leads a quality project and includes high-class players, even more in recent years.

“I am very happy to be here and to join this great club that is the LOSC. I am still young, I am learning and I think that this project suits me perfectly to continue to progress.”

Marc Ingla, Vice President of Lille Sporting club, said: “We welcome Victor Osimhen today with a lot of fun. He is a player with great potential who has already demonstrated his value and his ability to establish himself as a good scorer in a nearby league, in Belgium, which can also facilitate his integration.

“Victor is a fast forward player with a very vertical game, great physical abilities and a real intuition in front of the goal. Despite his young age, he is already international in Nigeria.

“He goes one step at a time, which allows him to consolidate his nascent fame in the world football landscape. It will be our job and especially that of the technical staff to help maintain this progress.”

The 20-year-old will come in as a replacement for Portuguese forward, Rafael Leao who is on his way to linking up with Italian giants, AC Milan.

He joined Belgian side, Charleroi on loan from German club Wolfsburg in August, 2018.

Osimhen scored 20 goals in 36 games for the club.

His impressive showing for the club also helped him make Nigeria’s 23-man list to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

He made just an appearance in Egypt when he came on for injured Odion Ighalo in the bronze-winning match against Tunisia at the just concluded AFCON.
