Victor Osimhen was on target as Napoli defeated Udinese 4-1 in their Serie A encounter on Wednesday.

The Nigerian scored the Parthenopeans’ second goal of the game at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

The 24-year-old was picked up inside Udinese’s goal area by a perfect pass from Matteo Politano. Osimhen controlled the ball before firing past Marco Silvestri in Udinese’s goal.

The strike was the Nigerian’s fourth league goal of the season. The goal also ended Osimhen’s recent goal drought after failing to hit the back of the net for Napoli in the previous four games. His previous goal for Napoli came in the 2-0 victory over Sassuolo in late August.

The poor form appeared to have recently led to controversy between the player and Napoli.

On Tuesday, Napoli put out a video on its official Tiktok account wherein it seemingly mocked Osimhen’s penalty loss in the club’s goalless draw against Bologna.

The video attracted widespread condemnation from football lovers.

Roberto Calenda, Osimhen’s agent, also threatened a lawsuit against the club, adding that the clip could “cause very serious damage to the player”.

In reaction, Osimhen deleted posts and photos related to the Italian Serie A champions on his Instagram page.

The player, however, left a picture of himself, in Napoli’s colours, leaping highest to score in August.
