Osinbajo, Ambode, el-Rufai to speak at EU/Africa forum

Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s vice-president; Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of Lagos state; and Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, are among the dignitaries that will attend the European Union Nigeria Business Forum (EUNBF) holding at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos between November 5 and November 6.

EUNBF, a collaborative effort of the European Union and its member state in Nigeria, serves as a platform for those in the private sector to gather essential market information, identify business opportunities and connect with key players.

The programme has as its theme: ‘Unlocking Opportunities for Diversification’.

Cecilia Malmstrom, EU’s commissioner for trade, and Katarzyna kacparczyk, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Poland, will also be in attendance.

Michel Arrion, head of EU delegation to Nigeria, said the forum aims to increase domestic and foreign investment in Nigeria.

Arrion explained that the agricultural sector will be the main focus of the forthcoming summit, adding that it will provide an avenue for business leaders and policy makers from the EU and Nigeria to discuss opportunities and impediment to investment.

He said specific sections have been designed to address obstacles to the effective development of the agricultural value chain and the opportunities which exist in the frame work of the economic partnership agreement between EU and West Africa.

Arrion said being a top destination for its oil and non-oil export, the EU has robust economic relations with Nigeria.

Organisers of the EUNBF said foreign agribusiness companies will showcase their products and technologies and also interact with Nigerian investors at ‘Agrikexpo and Food Bext west Africa’, a different programme, which will take place, still at Eko Hotel, between November 5 and November 7.
