Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and former President Olusegun Obasanjo are expected to attend the Baptist Boys’ High School (BBHS) centenary celebration.
In a statement by the school on Thursday, the week-long anniversary will start on January 16 and end on January 23.
According to the programme, a special anniversary lecture to be delivered by Osinbajo will be held on January 17, while the former president will give a lecture titled ‘BBHS Value’ on the third day of the event.
Akinwumi Adesina, the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), is expected to give a keynote speech on the role of education in 21st century Nigeria.

Other activities for programme include the inauguration of various projects initiated by the school’s old boys’ association, such as the “Sir Kessington Adebutu alumni building, the centennial park, Alhaji Isiaka car park arena, the N43 million main access road constructed by the 1984 set, the 500-capacity new sports complex, and the launch of the anniversary book”.
Founded on January 23, 1923 by Baptist missionaries, the school has produced many prominent Nigerians including Obasanjo; Bola Ajibola, former attorney-general of the federation; Funso Kupolokun, former group managing director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC); Gbenga Daniel, former governor of Ogun; and Adedokun Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland.
