Yemi Osinbajo, the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, national leader of the APC and Rauf Aregbesola led thousands of Nigerians in the 1 million man march for change.
The march, which took off at Maryland, Lagos was aimed at pulling support for the party’s change campaign after the return of Muhammadu Buhari from the United Kingdom on Friday.
As early as 8am, many supporters of the party and its presidential and gubernatorial candidates arrived in pockets, eventually massing into a crowd.
Before 9am, the march took off with many APC chieftains in attendance, beginning from Maryland to Ojota towards Ketu back to Teslim Balogun stadium, Surulere Lagos, where it was brought to a close.
Many civil societies and nollywood stars joined in the march, among whom were Remi Shitta-Bey, Ojo Arowosafe (better known as Fadeyi Oloro), and Adewale Adeoye (popularly known as Elesho).
Akinwunmi Ambode, the APC governorship candidate in the state; Adeyemi Ikuforiji, speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly; Lai Mohammed, the APC national publicity secretary; and Dele Alake, director of strategic communication for Buhari Campaign Organisation, were present as well.
Muhammadu Buhari, the APC presidential aspirant; John Oyegun, the party’s national chairman; and Babatunde Fashola, the governor of Lagos state, were conspicuously missing.
Buhari’s absence was due to his trip to Sokoto state, where he visited Shehu Shagari, a former president, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday.
