Laolu Akande: Osinbajo will sign 2017 budget into law when he’s satisfied with it

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo will sign the 2017 budget into law when he is satisfied with it, Laolu Akande, his spokesperson, has said.

The N7.441 trillion budget was passed by the national assembly exactly one week ago, on May 11.

But it is yet to be transmitted to the presidency, according to Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture.

The minister had also said that a decision is yet to be taken – between President Muhammadu Buhari who’s currently away on medical vacation and Acting President Yemi Osinbajo – on who will assent to the budget.

But reacting to speculations on Wednesday, Akande said that Osinbajo will assent it “when everything is set”.

“Just so we are clear: when the time comes, everything is set, & he is satisfied, Ag. President Yemi Osinbajo will assent to the 2017 Budget,” he tweeted.
