Osinbajo woos Lagos delegates ahead of APC convention on Sunday

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo says the time has come for citizens to experience a new Nigeria.

Speaking on Wednesday when he met stakeholders and delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, Osinbajo noted that Nigerians need to back up their words with their votes if they want a new Nigeria.

The vice president stated that the experience he has gathered while working with President Muhammadu Buhari for seven years has enabled him to understand how to govern the country despite its complex nature.

“I’m home to celebrate. I’m home to thank God for what he has done and for what he will do. I’m not here for a campaign. I’m not here to make consultations. I just want to celebrate with my brothers and sisters of Lagos state,” Osinbajo said.

“But I want to say to you that we have just ahead of us a new Nigeria. I’m certain God helping us that we will get to that new Nigeria.

“I’ve served for seven years as the vice-president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In that seven years period, I’ve worked under President Muhammadu Buhari who in many ways ensured I was exposed to everything about governing a complex and diverse country as Nigeria. I’ve also acted as president of Nigeria at various times.

“The truth of the matter is that God does not make a mistake. The reason why God must have given me those experiences, why he has allowed me to serve for seven years so far is because a time will come when our country will need new leadership. That is the reason God gave me all that experience and knowledge. That time has come.

“I’m sure that everyone knows that if you have seven years experience on anything, you will be better than those who don’t have any experience at all. All of us here will see that new Nigeria. We can only see a new Nigeria if we back all we are saying with the votes.

“We’ll begin on Sunday with the primaries and I know that we will have massive support from all our delegates. I’m completely convinced about that because everyone wants a new Nigeria. Sunday is just the beginning. God will help us and we’ll win and we’ll go on to win the general election for our great party the APC.”

Osinbajo is one of the top presidential aspirants of the APC who will be vying to clinch the ticket of the party this weekend.
