Osun guber: I’ll reclaim my mandate at election tribunal, says Oyetola

Gboyega Oyetola, governor of Osun, has expressed optimism about winning at the governorship election tribunal.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) had, in August, said it would challenge the outcome of the Osun governorship poll.

Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared winner of the election which held on July 16.

Adeleke secured 403,371 votes to defeat his closest contender, Gboyega Oyetola of the APC, who polled 375,027 votes.

Gboyega Famodun, the Osun APC chairman, had said based on the advice of the party’s lawyers, they had good grounds to challenge the result at the tribunal.

Speaking with journalists on Monday after a brief visit to the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, the Osun governor said he is not worried about the proceedings at the tribunal.

He also said he is confident that Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will get one million votes in Osun state.

“I don’t have any fear. I have faith in almighty God. I will reclaim my mandate,” Oyetola said.

“We have started the campaigns. Sometime last week, we had a solidarity walk throughout the state. We covered 11km.

“The turnout was so massive. Osun has always been a state for the progressives. So, there is nothing to worry about. I can assure you, we will deliver nothing less than one million votes for asiwaju.”
