Osun monarch celebrates Buratai as ex-army chief is turbaned as ‘Garkuwan Keffi’

Adekunle Makama, the Olowu of Owu Kuta in Osun state, has congratulated Tukur Buratai, former chief of army staff, on his new chieftaincy title, “Garkuwan Keffi”.

Garkuwan Keffi means shield of Keffi in Hausa. Keffi is a town in Nasarawa state.

In a statement, on Sunday, the monarch commended the former army chief for the recognition and honour conferred on him by the Keffi Emirate Council led by Shehu Chindo-Yamusa, Emir of Keffi.

Olowu said the eminent personalities across the country and the crowd that witnessed the turbaning of the Nigerian high commissioner to Benin Republic, on Saturday, was a testimony of his good work and contribution to the Nigerian army.

“I want to congratulate Ambassador TY Buratai for this new chieftaincy title of ‘Garkuwan Keffi’ meaning a ‘shield’. This is another testimony to the fact that he is loved by many despite attempts by detractors to paint him black. I urge him to work harder because the reward of hard work is more work,” Makama said.

“This also testifies to the fact that people appreciate what you have done and still doing for the country. This new title should further reinvigorate you to do more for posterity.

“On behalf of my good people of Owu Kuta in Ayedire LGA of Osun state, congratulations!”

The monarch added that Buratai has served the country and humanity meritoriously.
