There have been protests across the country in over one week, with demonstrators calling for justice for victims of police brutality.
Earlier on Saturday, while addressing protesters in Osogbo, Gboyega Oyetola, the governor, was whisked away hurriedly after violence broke out, with armed persons damaging some vehicles in his convoy.

Some persons were seen holding cutlasses and hurling stones, while gunshots were heard before the convoy sped away.
At least one person was said to have died during the crisis.
While the state government has claimed that the attack on Saturday afternoon was an attempt on the governor’s life, it is still not clear what provoked the violence during the protest.
