Osun victory is not for PDP, says Ondo APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state says the victory of Ademola Adeleke in the Osun west by-election is for aggrieved members and not for the People Democratic Party (PDP).

In the by-election, Adeleke polled a total of 97,480 votes to defeat Mudashiru Hussain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who secured 66,116 votes.

While receiving PDP members who defected to the APC on Monday, Ade Adetimehin, acting chairman of the APC in Ondo, said the two contestants in the election were members of the APC but the aggrieved one who defected to the PDP won.

The chairman said the dispute in the party made a faction led by Rauf Aregbesola, governor of Osun, lose the election.

“The last senatorial by-election in Osun west senatorial district was between the APC and APC. The victory recorded in the election was not for the PDP but for the aggrieved members of the APC in the state,” Adetimehin said.

He told members of his party to unite in order to avoid a similar fate in future elections.
