Osunbor, ex-governor, joins Edo guber race under APC

Oserheimen Osunbor, former governor of Edo, has declared his interest to vie for the office again on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Osunbor declared his intention on Thursday when he visited the leadership of the Edo chapter of the APC in Benin, the capital of Edo state.

Osunbor said having been governor before, he has the experience to lead the state, promising infrastructural revolution if elected.

“The state is currently suffering from bad roads and non-availability of other amenities,” he said.

“If given the opportunity to serve again, I will make sure that all these amenities are available. I have been there before and I have a lot to offer and I promise Edo people that I will do a lot to better their lots.”

The Edo governorship election will hold on September 21, 2024.

Osunbor, who was a senator from 1999 to 2007, was elected governor of the state in May 2007 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In March 2008, the governorship petition tribunal nullified Osunbor’s election and declared Adams Oshiomhole, who was a member of the Action Congress (AC) at the time, as winner of the poll.

In November 2008, an appeal court in Edo affirmed the ruling of the tribunal, citing irregularities in the election.
