Femi Otedola, chairman, Forte Oil plc and Kola Abiola, eldest son of MKO Abiola go back a long way– apparently as far back as 48 years.
In a throwback Thursday post on Instagram, the billionaire businessman shared an old photo of himself with 23 classmates and a class teacher at the Lagos University Staff school.
They were all in “Class II Nana” and Abiola’s son was standing behind Otedola, who would have been nine years old at the time.
“#TBT Lagos University staff school, 1971…48 years ago! Little me sitting circled in green, with the GREAT Kola Abiola standing behind me circled in red,” he captioned the picture.

During the launch of Dele Momodu’s three books in July 2018, Otedola had also spoken of how close he is to the Abiola family.
“My first memory of Chief Abiola was around 1971, about 47 years ago, as a pupil of the University of Lagos Staff School where his first son, Kola was my classmate,” he said at the book launch.

“A dutiful father, he picked up his children from school regularly. His first wife, the late Alhaja Simbiat Abiola was also my mother’s close friend,” he said.
