The Oyo state government, on Thursday, received a total of 127,740 doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
A statement by the Taiwo Adisa, chief press secretary to the governor, noted that the doses were received in Ibadan by officials of the Oyo state primary healthcare board on Thursday.
Muideen Olatunji, the executive secretary of the board, said the doses received were part of the first phase of the vaccine distribution.
“I can confirm to you that the Oyo state government has received a total of 127,740 AstraZeneca vaccine doses from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency. The vaccines are in good order and we have warehoused them in appropriate cold rooms,” Olatunji was quoted to have said.

“We have very strong cold rooms and we cannot even use up to one-third of the capacity in the state. We have already commenced the training of health workers, who will administer the vaccines. Next week, we will equally conduct the training at the local government levels.
“We will push the vaccines to the 33 local government areas, where they will be kept under appropriate conditions.”
Nigeria received 3,924,000 doses of the vaccine on March 2, and Ogun received the first batch distributed to states on March 8.

Meanwhile, vaccine administration has begun across the country.
