Oyo youth commissioner: I won't leave office a single man

Seun Fakorede, the commissioner for youth development and sports in Oyo state, says he would get married before the completion of his tenure in office.

Fakorede spoke when he appeared on ‘Parrot Xtra Hour on Radio’, a programme on Oluyole 98.5 FM Ibadan, Oyo state, on Tuesday.

He said plans are in top gear for him to change his status as a single man as soon as possible “before I leave office as commissioner.”

Fakorede would be replicating Dapo Lam Adesina and Umar Farouk Arisekola-Alao, his predecessors, who also tied the knot while in office — if he eventually makes good on his promise.

The commissioner also examined measures taken by Seyi Makinde, the governor, towards improving economic infrastructure and eradicating unemployment among the youth in the state.

Fakorede said that the governor has approved N500 million starter fund for youth empowerment in the state, adding that 5,000 youth are set to be employed by the state’s teaching service commission.

He called on the youth in the state to exercise patience over the dilapidated structures at the Ososami youth center, adding that measures are in place to renovate the building.

The commissioner also expressed the governor’s commitment to sports development, citing the allocation of about five and a half billion naira for the renovation of the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba in Ibadan.
