The board of Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation (NPPF) has suspended Queen Uboh-Idris as the federation’s president, following series of alleged violations.
Uboh-Idris had on Friday resigned after successfully hosting the 2020 Para-Powerlifting World championship in Abuja.
She announced her resignation during the closing ceremony of the championship at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja.
The federation’s board, however, rejected her resignation on the grounds that she did not follow due process.

It is believed she will now be investigated to unravel her fundraising activities for the just concluded Para Powerlifting World Cup, which she allegedly received donations with her private banks accounts instead of the federation’s account.
It was gathered that she repeatedly withheld information from other board members, who were left in the dark about activities surrounding the world championship.
According to a board member of the federation: “Queen (Uboh-Idris) was called on the phone to attend the meeting so that we can hear from her but she claimed to have resigned.

“We told her that there is a process for an elected board member to follow when they desire to resign and she has not followed that process.
“She has therefore not resigned, which means she must first cooperate with the investigation that has been ordered.”
The 7-day 2020 Para-Powerlifting World Championship, which ended on Friday in Abuja, featured athletes from Georgia, Ghana, Egypt, Cameroon.
