The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results for its 2024 in-school National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations.
Nnasia Asanga, the board’s acting registrar and chief executive, spoke at NABTEB’s headquarters in Ikpoba Hill, Benin in Edo state.
The 2024 NABTEB exam was held from June 27 to July 31, with the results released 63 days after its last paper.
About 67,384 candidates sat for the examinations.
Asanga said 44,000 candidates, representing 65.34 percent of the candidates who sat for the 2024 NBC/NTC examinations, scored five credits and above, including English language and Mathematics.
The chief executive said this performance is lower than what was recorded in the 2023 in-school NBC/NTC examination results.
In 2023, 39,220 candidates, representing 73.19 percent, obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
The 2024 figures amount to a pass rate drop of 10.76 percent.
Asanga said a total of 62,235 candidates, representing 92.42 percent of the candidates who sat for the examinations in 2024, obtained 5 credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics.
In 2023, 49,529 candidates, representing 92.43 percent of the entire candidates who sat for the exams, obtained five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics.
Asanga said the release of the results 63 days after the board’s last paper is part of efforts to hasten NABTEB’s processes.
“The timely release of results will greatly benefit candidates who may wish to use the results for admission into tertiary institutions,” the registrar added.
“This achievement is a testament to the management’s unwavering commitment and resilience to the advancement of education, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).”
