Pastor jailed two years for stealing N130k chemicals in Ondo

An Akure magistrate court, Ondo state, has sentenced Friday Okeneji, a 29-year-old pastor, to two years in prison for stealing chemical substances worth N130,000. 

Damilola Sekoni, the magistrate, convicted Okeneji on a two-count charge of breaking and entering, as well as theft.

While ruling that the jail term be run concurrently, the magistrate also gave the convict an option of a N100,000 fine.

Okeneji had pleaded guilty to charges read to him upon arraignment.

He told the court that he had no means of livelihood, adding that he had to pay N150,000 for his mother’s burial slated for August.  

Okeneji, a presiding pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church( CAC), Ona Iwa-Mimo, Iwaro Oka Akoko area of Ondo, committed the offence on July 2.

The magistrate encouraged the convict to turn a new leaf and imbibe true Christian virtues of hard work and prayerfulness.
