Patience Jonathan: Chibok girls need prayers

First lady, Patience Jonathan, has urged Nigerians to continue praying for the female students of Government Secondary school, Chibok, Borno state, who have spent 170 days in the captivity of Boko Haram.

While 57 of the girls managed to escape, one was freed by the sect last week and 218 are still in captivity.

However, speaking on Wednesday during a special independence programme for children, the first lady expressed concern over the insurgency in the country, lamenting the fate of the Chibok school girls.

“I want you to continue to pray for the girls that Boko Haram kidnapped,” she said.

“Pray for them. Pray that God should touch the heart of Boko Haram. Nobody wants to die. Children, do you want to die?”

Jonathan called on Nigerians to live in unity and show love to one another.

“There is no country that you can compare to Nigeria,” she said.

“If you travel out of this country or go anywhere. You still have to come back to your country.

“Nigeria is a good country. Children, do you love Nigeria?”

The members of the younger generation responded affirmatively to her delight and she continued “When you get home, don’t forget to pray for our country. I know you don’t want to die. I also don’t want to die.

“I want you to always be good boys and girls. Obey your parents. I love you all”

She ended by asking the children to have fun and celebrate in peace.
