Patience Jonathan incredibly crude, says APC

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO) has thanked Nigerians for putting up with “an incredibly crude woman” as Patience Jonathan, Nigeria’s first lady.

Speaking on Tuesday during the PDP women presidential campaign rally in Kogi state, Mrs. Jonathan had described Muhammadu Buhari, APC’s presidential candidate, as unfit to be the country’s president.

Wetin him dey find again? Him dey drag with him pikin mate,” she said in pidgin English. “Old man wey no get brain, him brain don die pata pata.”

But responding in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, APCPCO said it was not only insulting for the president’s wife to describe Mughammadu Buhari, APC’s presidential candidate as “brain-dead”, but it was also demeaning of her status as the first lady.

“President Jonathan is urged to call his wife to order,” Shehu Garba, its director of media and publicity, said.

“It is discourteous and inexcusable for a wife of any president with a modicum of decency to make such a false and infantile pronouncement about the health status of another man on account of politics.

“The APCPCO recalls that in recent times, Mrs. Jonathan had made statements invoking violence, like she did in Calabar over the weekend when she urged PDP supporters to ‘stone’ all those canvassing for change.”

Shehu said that it was below the standard of a wife of a president to stoop so low to call for violent attacks against members of the opposition.

“While a good number of Nigerians are not taken by surprise by Mrs. Jonathan’s recent incredulous pronouncements, it is important for her husband to put her in bridles in the spirit of the Abuja Peace Accord,” he added.

“Much as indecent and disgraceful the outbursts of Mrs. Jonathan was in attempting to pull the wool over the eyes of Nigerians about her husband’s incompetence to lead the country, it is typical of the PDP’s modus operandi to confuse Nigerians with mundane issues instead of the issues of corruption, for which her husband has achieved an unbeaten record; his appalling lack capacity to secure life and property of citizens and a glaring incompetence in dealing with the challenges facing the economy.”

  1. The first lady should be reminded of Simone Gbagbo, the wife of Laurent Gbagbo of Ivory Coast. During her time as first lady, she preached hatred and violence. Where is she today? In prison custody in Abidjan awaiting trial, while he husband awaits trial before the ICC

  2. Chimndidu Osuagwu,I can’t see any depth in your thoughts. It seems your neutrality has been tainted based on sentiments. The statements credited to the First Lady does nothing but show that she is ill-mannered and can’t be seen as a role model. It also contributes negatively to her husband’s quest for re-election. I also wonder how any sane human being would expect the APC to caution Prof Wole Soyinka when he is not a member of the APC. I implore all Nigerians to go out and vote their conscience. We should see this election as an opportunity to establish the importance of the people in the making of any government. If we wield our voting power this time, come 2019, nobody will take the Nigerian people for granted. All we demand always is good governance, less corruption. Long Live Nigeria.

  3. The office of d first lady is not there in d constitution. late Mama maryam Babangida R.I.P. was a role model dat her legacies will reign forever.Dame patience jonathan is not only a bad influece to d youths but also o looser. her utterances should checked by d sss and APC with GMB SHOULD forgive her.

    1. What makes you think that Patience is a looser? Let me tell you, I am not a supporter of any party. I believe in good governance. But Buhari and Co-Party horts first iniated violence campaign against GEJ. So i am not surprise if Patience is giving it back to them after all a good wife stood by her husband in any condition whether good or bad.

      1. UG how can you say this? How can you make such utterances? It puts you in the same class with Dame Patience(eventhough she is no dame, going back her lack of public manners). A good wife will see it fit to correct any wrong moves made by her husband and not to team up with him to assault others. If both make the same mistakes, how would that relationship stand or be beneficial to anybody?. Your utterances connote lawlessness, and that’s why you support Patience’s lawless public conduct. And it reflects corruption in you which we Nigerians don’t want. We don’t want the likes of you, Patience and GEJ and cohorts in governance anymore. Better sit up and imbibe good character.

  4. It is disheartening to realize that this is the woman who has been giving our President advice everyday in the bedroom. No wonder we are where we are as a nation. God save Nigeria because I am not sure the country can survive further exposure to this kind of leadership for another four months not to talk of four years. Haba!!! Is it a curse or punishment?

  5. What a fuss over nothing?APC Should firstly remove a rod in their eyes.”DOGS and Baboons will be soaked in blood” and they are clapping for him calling him man of integrity and people’s General.APC have taken this campaign beyond d domain of banality.GEJ 2019
