Patients scampered for safety on Thursday when a fire broke out at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
The fire incident started in the information communication technology (ICT) room at the pre-pharmacy block of the haematology clinic.
Video clips of the incident showing patients scampering for safety have appeared on social media but no casualty was recorded.
In a statement, Margaret Adeseye, director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, said prompt response by the Ikeja fire station contained the fire within the ICT room.

In a statement released after the incident, the management of LASUTH said investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of damage.
“A mild fire started at the Information and Communications Technology Unit of the hospital at about 2pm on Tuesday, 4th of April, 2024,” the statement reads.
“The fire service arrived promptly and the fire was completely put out, there were no casualties.”
