PDP: APC behind reports of Metuh’s suspension

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has risen in defence of Olisa Metuh, spokesman of the party, over his reported suspension by the PDP in Anambra.

The former ruling party said the report of Metuh’s suspension was fabricated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in its desperate attempt to bring him down.

A statement signed by nine PDP leaders from the southeast read: “The attention of Peoples Democratic Party from the 118 electoral wards, and the seven local government areas that make up Anambra south senatorial district of Anambra state has been drawn to reports in some media titled, ‘Anambra PDP sacks Metuh,” and wish to state as follows:

“That the said media reports about the purported suspension of Olisa Metuh did not emanate from either Otolo Ward 1, or any of the wards and LGA in Anambra south senatorial district and not from PDP Anambra state, rather it was the handiwork of agents of All Progressive Congress (APC) in their desperate attempts to bring down at all cost the leader of PDP in Anambra state, Olisa Metuh.

“That we challenge the authors of the fabricated stories about the purported suspension/sack of our leader  Olisa Metuh from PDP, to publish the names and signatures of the elected PDP ward, LGA and state officers that signed the false and malicious resolution.

“That we are not in any way surprised that the makers of the false and malicious media propaganda against our leader Olisa Metuh, the All Progressives Congress (APC) being a political party owned by one man and his agents, and not being a disciplined association grounded in constitutional issues and norms, are pitiably ignorant about the constitutional procedure for disciplinary action (if any) against the national officer of PDP.

“That no amount of blackmail, harassment and intimidation from the APC and their agents can deter and distract our leader Olisa Metuh, from the ongoing task of rebuilding, remobilisation and repositioning of PDP to reclaim Anambra state in the forthcoming elections.”

Metuh had earlier told TheCable that nobody from the zone can suspend him.
