The national working committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa, as the chairman of its campaign organisation for the Edo governorship election.

The PDP also appointed Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun, as chairman of its campaign organisation for the Ondo election.

The Edo and Ondo governorship elections will take place on September 21 and November 16 respectively.

The campaign councils were inaugurated on Thursday by Umar Damagum, acting national chairman of the PDP, at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Damagum said members of the party are united and determined to win the governorship polls in the two states.

“So, we are sure to have Edo state back-to-back. For Ondo state, what we have seen is very encouraging,” Damagum said.

“The people have resolved to re-occupy their rightful place in the scheme of things. The antics of the APC will surely fail in Ondo state. They are already campaigning for us by the way and manner they have run the affairs of our country.”

Eddy Olafeso, former national vice-chairman (south-west) of the PDP, said the hardship in the country has “demarketed” the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We need to bring Nigerians out from the slavery and bondage in which we are,” Olafeso said.
