The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked for immediate transfer of the governorship election petition tribunals in Ogun and Nasarawa to Abuja “for safety and to guarantee justice”.
The PDP made the demand on Thursday at a press conference addressed by Debo Ologunagba, its national publicity secretary.
Ologunagba condemned the “attacks on PDP members at governorship election petition tribunal premises in Ogun, Nasarawa, and Kaduna”.
He alleged that there are plots to sustain the attacks, with the intention to instill fear in the judiciary in order to derail the course of justice.

“This justifies PDP’s demand for live coverage of the tribunal proceedings as party members would have been watching at home instead of going to the premises,” Ologunagba said.
“INEC’s objection to its evidence in court is to frustrate the court and derail the course of justice,” he said.
On the inauguration of the 10th assembly billed for June 13, Ologunagba said the PDP will deploy its numbers “maximally” to elect the leaders of the national assembly.

“It is instructive to note that the opposition parties put together will form a strong majority in the national assembly and we are very mindful of that,” he said.
“The PDP leadership is working together with our members-elect and opposition parties in the two chambers.
“Irrespective of the ongoing claims in the media, I want to inform you that the PDP has a clear direction which we hold close to our chest.
“Our members are united in that direction and it will show on the floor of both houses of the national assembly on Tuesday.”

TheCable had reported how Segun Sowunmi, a former governorship aspirant of the party, and some supporters of the PDP, were attacked on Monday by suspected thugs at the state’s election petition tribunal premises in Abeokuta.
