PDP: GMB’s Chatham House speech a truthful lie

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the speech of Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Chatham House in London on Thursday as a “truthful lie”, saying the main opposition party is chasing shadows.

In his speech, Buhari had stated that waste and corruption were the two ills militating against the economy of Nigeria, and promised: “If elected, I will lead the way, with the force of personal example.”

But PDP sees the APC standard bearer’s speech as “well-produced orchestra”, saying the “messenger belies the message”.

“The Peoples Democratic Party has noted the theatrical appearance of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, in that well-produced orchestra earlier today at the Chatham House, London. A script well written, a script well acted, all a truthful lie. The messenger belies the message,” a statement by Olisa Metuh, spokesman of the PDP, read.

“The stage was targeted to secure a desperately needed endorsement of the international community but the world is hardly fooled by theatrics of desperation. APC is chasing shadows.

“That stage may have lifted the badly deflated morale of the members of APC but the vanishing performance is incapable of redeeming the forlorn fortune in the bad sale the APC flagbearer is in the March 28, 2015 presidential election.

“Bottom-line, we wish to urge General Buhari to quickly channel his message and energies home, meet Nigerians who are choking up with questions on his capacity to lead. He may realise, ultimately too, that politics in this instance is local and shall be decided locally. The ultimate endorsement lies with the people of Nigeria.

“We wish to commend President Goodluck Jonathan for boosting the morale of our gallant soldiers with a visit today to Baga in Bornu state and Mubi in Adamawa state. His able leadership has resulted in the huge successes recorded by our armed forces in the fight against insurgency.”

  1. Can you just shut up already mr Metuh, only a corrupt low class sycophant will not see the truth. I am Nigerian in Nigeria and I have decided to vote Buhari, and so do millions of Nigerians. So deal with it, we Nigerians love Buhari

  2. must u take every opportunity to ridicule urself and ur party?…….metu ..should better learn how labaran maku d former mouth piece of d pdp was dumped after been used

  3. Buhari’s Chatam House outing gives Nigerians, home and abroad, hope that our nation can rise again. I don’t know what nonsense Metuh is saying. We are choked with questions of Jonathan’s competence, love for corruption and theatrical visit to Baga all for cheap political points. Where was this same Jonathan in all the years when Boko Haram killed over 10,000 Nigerians, slaughtering our children in sleep in school, bombing them on assembly grounds, at playground, viewing centre, churches, mosques? So, it takes the motivation of Chad and Niger for the “Commander-in-Chief” to know he has responsibility to protect his people? We cannot be fooled. We are just waiting patiently to kick out this irresponsible and clueless government. Our morale is high, high as ever, postponement or not. Except that election does not hold. If it does, GEJ should just be packing for Otuoke. No more the wasted breed!!!!, No more!!!!!!!!!!

  4. GEJ have completely transformed Nigeria into a fast growing society and promises to more if we join hands together with him, please let’s vote for transformation and not change to the previous rea we where.VOTE GEJ.

  5. Why do Buhari and APC think that nigerians are fools. Why Mr president is here doing everything humanly possible to restore security and flush out boko haram out this nation,Buhari ran to London Chatham house to deceive the gullibles and rally round international community against Nigeria.

The fire thy are stoking in this country will burn them if they do not retreat.

March 28 election is a local election. It is a Nigerian election and not Chatham house. He has failed already and no amount of Chatham house collaboration will change the will of the people.

  6. All these noise makers should know that chief Metu is smarter and better focused than lie low Muhammed.

Lie Muhammed is known with lies and destructive propaganda, but Metu is more of a man who discusses issues and lay it bare for intellectual debate.

The era of lie Muhammed, Tinubu and Buhari are over. We are in 21st century where issues are technically and technological generated and analyses. We can never make the mistakes of 30 yrs ago.

We are wiser now. We will re elect president Jonathan.

It is not by noise making, it is the wish of the niherian people.

  7. Shouting change is not enough to win this election. Buhari can go to Chatham house and all the chatrooms in this world but he can win this election.

He is perpetually unelectable. He is a serial loser. He is old and weak. He can go through the rigorous stress required to be effective as a president of the biggesteconomy in Africa.

    Chatham house won’t vote.

  8. How come the same Nigerians who asked FG what it did with all
    the billions approved for Defence and equipment of the military, and mounted rostrums, wrote articles, sat in TV and Radio studios to educate us on the need to properly equip the military;

    the same persons who told us that Boko Haram was better armed than our military; the same persons who were lecturing us on how to defeat Boko Haram; the same persons who said Ihejirika stole all the money meant to equip the army;

the same persons who said Jonathan is clueless about handling Boko Haram; are now asking why it took FG this long to dislodge those guys? Some are asking why now. Same Nigerians? The same people that told us Boko Haram was fighting injustice and lack of development in the north?…

  9. Nigeria does not need their likes….

A country likes Nigeria, with a myriad of problems, diverse ethnicity and religion, surely doesn’t need the like of Buhari, with his average intellect, to navigating the affairs of our country. Perhaps, it is because of his intellectual laziness that Buhari and the APC recently passed off an invitation for a public debate with other presidential aspirants to showcase his manifesto.
In the General’s school report also, the Commandant of the college, Major General S.P. Malhotra, stated as part of his remarks on Buhari that he is of “average intelligence” and that he possesses a “sober” disposition. Now, this damning observation by the Commandant is striking and needs to be critically perused. After also concurring on Buhari’s mediocre intellect, the commandant’s sober declaration on Buhari’s disposition gives us cause for alarm. Being sober may mean being soft-spoken and calm but it also means lacking brightness and luster, dull and completely lacking in exuberance. Is this the kind of president we want to take us to the “promised land” in the next four years?
Nigerians deserves a president who is bright, lively and sharp. We certainly need a president who is up and doing and ready to inspiringly heed the call to duty. We need a president who is not lacking intellectual acuity but active and brisk in his demeanor and carriage. We need a president who has an inspiring charisma, capable of taking Nigeria to greater heights. Having a sober personality and disposition for the number one citizen of our country could indeed prove detrimental to the fortunes of Nigeria, especially in the conduct of our foreign relations. We need a president who can hold his own, protect and project our interest in the international arena and in the comity of nations.
President Jonathan may not be the best material or president Nigeria has had or could produce, but neither is General Buhari. Unfortunately for Nigerians, a choice has got to be made between President Jonathan and General Buhari. At this desperate time when one has to pick between two not-so-inspiring choices, I would rather opt for the one who has an above average intellect, possesses working knowledge of issues outside his sphere of practice, has the imagination and commonsense to think outside the box, is sometimes assertive, has gone to the university, and has the basic minimum constitutional requirement to contest for the office of the president of Nigeria; and that certainly is NOT General Buhari. VOTE GOODLUCK Jonathan for continuity and transformation of Nigeria .

  10. The APC were quick to tell us that their presidential candidate is going on a Working Visit to UK and will hold a town hall interactive session with the NIGERIA community in UK and later address the world at CHATHAM HOUSE.
When the information leaked that Buhari was going to UK for his medical attention, APC and their supporters did not take it lightly to anybody that took that stand.
Thank God Buhari himself vindicated those that took the stand of medical visit, according to Buhari, he said, his Doctor gave him a clean bill of health and that was why he was present for the speech.
Buhari went missing from the radar from the day he entered UK.
In order to make people believe otherwise, the propaganda machinery of APC resumed duty uploading different pictures showing Buhari being interviewed by a journalist in UK, pictures of Buhari meeting with Tony Blair, of which they backed their claims up with links but unfortunately all was busted as lies and propaganda making those newspaper houses to be dishing apologies to the public they were meant to deceive.
Two invents were organized by APC but none of them do we see Buhari presence rather he was represented by his wife and children together with the wife of his running mate.
To safe face, APC bought a slot for the speech at CHATHAM HOUSE since his name was not in any event at CHATHAM HOUSE originally.
Two ways to be featured at CHATHAM HOUSE:
    1. By invitation to speak.
    2. By buying a slot to speak and bringing your audience. This is the one APC did.
Having bought a slot, APC having to bring their members as audience to fill the hall some how.
We begin to wonder what is the rationale to fly your members to UK just to read out a script written long time ago that can even be better done in any biggest arena in Nigeria with more crowd.
Were they having in mind of Obama 2008 Berlin speech or Romney 20012 London Olympic address.
If the purpose was to speak to the world do we now say the world refused to come therefore your members have to fly to UK to fill the hall some how?
We are beginning to believe the words of our President “The don’t win election by propaganda and lies”………President Goodluck Jonathan.

  11. Few months ago, Buhari claimed to be broke. He did not even have money to pay for the nomination form for his presidential ambition. Today, he sits on the treasury of some of the richest states in Nigeria, namely, Lagos, Rivers states, etc. So, come to think of it, head or tail, Buhari wins; a very ‘poor’ General now traveling with private jets locally and internationally; prestigious access to the best medical personnel and health facility in the world; unlimited cash flow from rich states and individuals in Nigeria; free grooming by the best media propaganda machines and PR firms money can buy in the world; hyperbolic attempts to launder and convert a dictatorial image of a despot to a democrat… what else can anyone really ask for? The man is already on top of the world. let him enjoy joor, na him God butter bread for am… mugu must fall!
However, how about the Rivers state people and their money governor Amaechi is throwing around? What if Buhari failed to win the mandate of Nigerians next month, how is he going to recoup this money? Lagos, of course, is a vibrant economy and governor Fashola has not been worshiping and following Buhari around like boy boy. So his case is different…
Anyway, am not even sure I will have any sympathy for Amaechi when he crashes and burns. The doctrine of Karma is loading…

  12. I have met with many supporters of GEJ in different occasion to convinces me on the reasons to vote for their honorable candidates but they did not have anything to say. Then, I realised that most of them want him on basis of sentiment or bias mind. This is not what Nigeria need at this point in time. We need a revival. Aside from the level of insecurity that imbibed North Eastern part of the nation; corruption is a major challenge we are facing. A govt that encourages corruption how can it improves the life of her citizens. GEJ men has label this man badly in the past to chase Nigerians away from him. Not to let us know the true type he is. Called him extremist, dictator ect. But all your plans has failed at this time. Now you are wishing him dead. Nigerians has seen the light. We are going towards the right direction. Go to hell with your biasness. Sai Buhari!!!

  13. The only comment I have for the GEJites is a prayer and for them to say Amen, to wit: That ‘may the Lord manage their lives the way GEJ has been managing Nigeria over the last six years!!’. And all the GEJites say Amen!

  14. Anybody old enough when Buhari ruled Nigeria will not wish for a Buhari come-back.Those were terrible period in Nigeria history, from essential commodities,no toilet soap,no vegetable oil, some of us used palm oil to fry eggs,Fela Anikulapo Kuti was jailed for being in possession of some foreign currencies above allowable quantity, while Emir of Gwandu came in with 53 suit cases without any issue.
APC has no good track records of prudent management of state rsources. For instance Lagos state debt portfolio is the highest in Nigeria compared to other states despite the ever rising I G R of the state.
For me APC IS A GROUP OF DESPIRADOS and nothing more.
Let Tinunbu tell us how much he gave the delegates to get AMBODE and BUHARI emerge as governorship and presidential candidates of APC.
