PDP governors meet in Abuja over party crisis

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples  Democratic Party (PDP) are currently meeting in Abuja.

The sit-down is taking place at the Bauchi state governor’s lodge in the Asokoro area of the nation’s capital.

Those present at the meeting include Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi; Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers; Ademola Adeleke of Osun; Dauda Lawal of Zamfara; and Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau.

Other governors in the party are expected to join the meeting.

The governors will also meet other organs in the party, including members of the national working committee (NWC), the board of trustees (BoT), and the national assembly caucus.

The national executive committee (NEC) of the PDP is scheduled to meet on Thursday.

The NEC is the highest decision-making organ of the PDP, comprising state governors, serving and former presidents, former vice-presidents, chairman and secretary of the BoT, principal officers of the national assembly, all state chairmen, members of the NWC, former governors, and founding members, among others.

As is the tradition in the PDP, several organs in the party, including the PDP Governors’ Forum, national assembly caucus, BoT, and national caucus, usually converge before the NEC meeting.

The NEC is expected to make wide-ranging decisions on the festering crisis in the party.
