The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will hold a non-elective convention on August 12 in Abuja.
This followed a meeting of the national executive committee (NEC) of the party on Tuesday.
The committee also resolved to reinstate all states executive elected at the April 2016 congress that were later removed by Ali Modu Sheriff.
The leadership of the party has been meeting since Monday.

The last national convention of the party in May 2016 threw it into a leadership crisis. At the event Ali Modu Sheriff was removed as national chairman while Ahmed Makarfi was appointed as “caretaker” chairman.
But Sheriff challenged the decision of the PDP, insisting that he was the chairman of the party. This tussle continued until last Wednesday when the supreme court declared Makarfi as the authentic chairman of the party.
New members of the party executive will not emerge at the August 12 convention because it is non-elective.
