PDP picks Wike to head convention committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, as chairman of its national convention.

Olisa Metuh, spokesman of the party, announced this in a statement, saying Darius Ishaku of Taraba will serve as deputy chairman, while Dave Umahi of Ebonyi will be secretary of the committee.

The statement said the party had constituted four special committees in preparation for theconvention and the overall rebuilding and repositioning process.

The Committees, which are to be inaugurated on Tuesday are the national convention committee, reconciliation committee, zoning committee and the finance committee.

Seriake Dickson, governor of Bayelsa is chairman of the reconciliation committee, while Ibrahim Mantu, former deputy senate president is the deputy chairman.

Ibrahim Dankwambo, governor of Gombe state, is the chairman of the finance committee, and Godswill Akpabio, senate minority leader, would serve as deputy chairman.

Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom is the head of zoning committee.

The committees will be inaugurated by Ali Modu-Sheriff, national chairman of the party, in a ceremony at the national secretariat.

  1. I love this choice of profound committee chairmen. They are the present pdp stunch in their various leadership capacities.
