PDP postpones south-south congress, to hold south-east, north-east meetings February 22

Debo Ologunagba

The national working committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed the south-south zonal congress earlier scheduled for Saturday.

In a statement issued on Thursday night, Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, said a new date for the south-south congress would be announced soon.

The PDP spokesperson said the postponement is “necessitated by the need for further consultation on critical issues relating to the smooth conduct” of the congress in the zone.

“The NWC regrets any inconvenience caused by the postponement of the south-south zonal congress. A new date will be communicated in due course,” the statement reads.

However, Ologunagba said the south-east and north-east congresses will be held on Saturday, February 22, at the party’s zonal headquarters in Enugu and Bauchi states respectively, as earlier scheduled.

The PDP spokesperson asked party members, aspirants, stakeholders, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies to take note of the developments.
