Speaking after voting on Saturday, Dauda Lawal, Zamfara governor, commended the “massive” turnout of voters and overall “peaceful” conduct.
The governor noted that LGAs are the closest tier of government to the people, and that the proximity enables them to address grassroots needs.
“You know, elections are all about people and development, the election process starts from LGs to the state,” Lawal said.
“The LG poll is important with local government councils being the third tier of government and most closer to the people.”
