National publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, has donated N1 million to the ministry of health to boost its efforts towards containing Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the country.
While presenting a cheque for N1 million to the minister of health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu, in Abuja on Tuesday, Metuh called on well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to support the federal government in the fight, saying the burden of finding solution to the Ebola scourge should not be left to the government alone.
“There is no way the federal government can be left alone to bear the burden of this challenge. It is my well-considered opinion that citizens of this country and corporate organizations should support the overall effort to eradicate the Ebola Virus Disease in our dear country,” he said.
“It is in this wise that I make my own little contribution and urge other well-meaning Nigerians to come out and join forces with the federal government and our health workers to end this scourge.”

The PDP spokesman commended President Goodluck Jonathan and the minister of health for the response given to “this national emergency” even as he saluted health workers in the country for their show of patriotism, professionalism and sacrifices in the effort to check the spread of the disease.
Metuh, who participated in the #EBOLAIceBucketChallenge in Nigeria on Facebook to raise awareness and draw support for intervention against the disease, expressed optimism that with the collaboration of all Nigerians, the nation would win the war against Ebola sooner than envisaged.
